If the clock is too high on the back it can cause the pendulum to drag on the weights stopping the clock.
It wasn t that expensive but holds sentimental value so i don t want to replace it.
If you don t hear a ticking sound the clock s hands are probably stuck.
It is a general rule to never move the hands backwards when setting the time on a vienna regulator.
Put it back on the wall and the pendulum stops after a few minutes it just swings slower and slower until it stops.
On a vienna regulator or longcase clock or other weight driven clock it s best to let it run until it stops before moving it.

A clock that is out of beat is likely to stop because the pendulum is not receiving the optimum impulses to keep it swinging.
It started about two years ago and each time i would change the battery and it would start again but hours days or weeks later it would just stop.
When setting the time stop at every chime spot hours hours sometimes hours and allow the clock to fully chime.
Gently move the hands with a finger to see if they are touching the dial the glass or each other.
If it is too high in the front it may be touching the chime rods again causing it to stop.

True vienna regulators are weight driven clocks although there are some spring driven clocks generally referred to as vienna regulators.
